New Jersey child visitation and parenting time can be structured in a variety of different ways to fit your family’s unique needs. When creating the visitation schedule, it is important to remember that each parent should be granted vacation time with their children. A variety of factors must be considered, including the age of the child, school schedules and each parent’s work schedule.
For school-age children, the visitation schedule must consider fall break, winter break, spring break and summer. During these “breaks,” your regular visitation schedule will likely be altered. The same is true for holidays. Parents should determine what schedule works best for their family, but most alternate holidays and alternate years each parent has the children for a certain holiday. In other words, if the mother has the children on Christmas Day this year, the father has the children on Christmas Day next year. Birthdays should be included in the list of holidays.
